FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Democrat Dave Kerner Announces Candidacy for Florida House, District 87
West Palm Beach Attorney and police officer Dave Kerner has officially announced his candidacy for State Representative of the newly drawn 87th District.
His announcement took place outside the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections offices before a large group of supporters, just miles from where he was born and raised. Friends, family and many members of the legal community attended the Kerner announcement.
“I still enjoy the great spirit of community that I grew up with here in Palm Beach County. I want to preserve it, encourage responsible growth and be the people’s voice in Tallahassee. I am passionate about community, and committed to standing up for everyday people. My experience has taught me that it is the people of this state that make it so great. They deserve to be vigorously represented and to have their interests protected. I believe the only special interest a politician should be concerned with is the people. I am committed to the people of Florida, and I’m ready to take that commitment to Tallahassee.”
“Dave puts ethics and honor before all else, and I think that is exactly the kind of representative we need in Tallahassee, now more than ever,” said Sgt. Carl Newsome, Dave’s former supervisor on the police force. “That’s one of the reasons he was named ‘Police Officer of the Year’ — his commitment to the people he serves and his emphasis on ethics,” Newsome went on to say.
Kerner is with the law firm of Schuler, Halvorson, Weisser & Zoeller, a civil litigation firm in West Palm Beach since 1975. Kerner has a proven record of community service through volunteer work as a police officer with the Department of Environmental Protection Police, the Palm Beach County Democratic Party, and as a participant of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Saturation Patrol.
“As a police officer, I’ve protected communities and defended the Florida and U.S. Constitutions,” said Kerner. “As an attorney I’ve taken on overreaching government and big business. And as a product of our local and state public schools I understand the importance of a strong, well-funded and independent education system.”
The University of Florida law graduate is an active Democrat. Dave returned home to Palm Beach County to continue to bring his commitment and dedication to his community.
